Civil Engineering and Building Construction

The Civil Engineering Construction qualification will enable a learner to deal with:

Operate and Maintain construction equipment and machinery.
Participate in the construction of roads, bridges, houses, etc.
Participate in the erection of reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber and masonry.

Admission Requirements

A Pre Vocational Learning Programme (PLP)certificate with 50% pass in English and Life Orientation and a 40% pass in Mathematics and Foundational Science; or
A Grade 9 statement with a 40% pass in Mathematics and English FAL; or a
Equivalent Occupational Programme; or an
RLP Assessment Programme; or an
APS Score of 22, using the best six (6) Grade 9 subjects inclusive of Mathematics/ Technical Mathematics and English; or an
APS Score of 20, using the best six (6) Grade 10 subjects inclusive of Mathematics/ Technical Mathematics and English; or an
APS Score of 18, using the best six (6) Grade 11 subjects inclusive of Mathematics/ Technical Mathematics and English; or an
An NQF Level one qualification or an approved bridging programme designed for.

Currently Ikhala College is serving the communities of the Northern Region of the Eastern Cape with campuses at Aliwal North, Ezibeleni, Queen Nonesi (Lady Frere), Komani, and Sterkspruit.
