TVET Colleges Compete at CoSACSA EC 2026 Track & Field Championships

TVET colleges from across the province showcased their athletic talent at the CoSACSA EC 2026 Track & Field Championships on the 28 and 29 March 2026, demonstrating strong participation across both track and field events.

The championships saw impressive representation in sprint, middle-distance and long-distance races, with athletes competing in events ranging from the 100m to the 10,000m. While official race times are still being verified, the level of competition and student involvement reflected the growing strength of athletics within the TVET sector.

Field events delivered standout performances, particularly in the javelin throw, where several athletes recorded notable distances. Leading the pack was Mtolo Mhlonitshwa from KSD TVET College, who secured the top performance with a throw of 37.38m, followed closely by Liyabona Mqondeni (Lovedale TVET College) with 36.59m and Lwandile Qotywa (KSD TVET College) with 33.58m. These performances highlight the competitive edge and technical excellence displayed during the championships.

Ikhala TVET College athletes also made their mark, participating across a range of track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance races, jumps and throws demonstrating well-rounded athletic development and strong representation.

The competition not only celebrated athletic performance but also reinforced unity, discipline and excellence among TVET students.

Looking Ahead

The top-performing athletes will advance to represent their colleges at the upcoming Sakhiwo Zuma Track and Field Championship, taking place from 19–22 April 2026 at the iconic Green Point Athletics Stadium in Cape Town.

As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on these athletes as they step onto the national stage, carrying the pride of their colleges and province with them.
